Saturday April 22 - 141 Speedway, Francis Creek
We took the #07 Mid-American car owned by Dave Kinnaird to Francis Creek
to open the 2000 racing season. We timed in eighth out of fifteen cars. Finished
third in the heat race. Started fourth row inside in the Feature and finished
sixth after avoiding a 4 car pile up coming out of turn three. Overall it was a
good night and it brought back alot of memories from when we raced there about
15 years ago in our mini stock. The track has made alot of improvements and is a
very nice establishment. We had alot of fun!
Saturday April 29 - Jefferson Speedway
Season opener at Jefferson brought out a total of 32 Late Models. We
timed in third with a 14.747. Last years fast time was a 14.819 so we beat our
last years time! We started second row outside of the dash and finished second.
The heat race we started last row inside and finished fifth. The Feature started
18 cars with us starting sixth row outside and we finished 3rd. We were pleased
with all top 5 finishes and a good start to the year! Congratulations to Bill
Leindecker who won the 50 Lap Feature.
Saturday May 6 - Jefferson Speedway

Jefferson had 32 Late Models and we were 9th in time. Our fastest lap was
a 15.063. The car was very loose in time trials so we tightened it up for the
Heat. The Heat we started second row outside and finished second. The Feature we
started third row outside and had our first feature win of the year and an
exciting one at that. We had a pretty good lead until Andy Wendt broke out and
chased us down. The last 5 laps were some tense laps with Andy pounding on our
door. We were lucky to hold him off and go on to win because Andy definitely had
a faster car than us that night. It was a good exciting race!
Sunday May 7 - Wisconsin International
Raceway, Kaukauna
Sunday we took the Mid-American car to Kaukauna. This was Scott's first
time ever on this race track. There were 29 Mid-American cars and the top 16 in
time made the Feature. We missed the Feature by one car with a 17th qualifying
position. The heat race we finished second. We finished first place in the semi
Feature which put us in the 30 lap Feature. The Feature we started 9th row
inside out of 22 cars and finished 15th.
Friday May 12 - Grundy, IL
Rained Out
Saturday May 13 - Jefferson Speedway
We had a 14.851 which put us 7th quick in time. Who would of guessed that
a 14.851 wouldn't make the dash?!?! Times are getting faster every week at
Jefferson. The heat race we started third row inside and finished 3rd. We
started 7th row outside in the Feature and finished 5th. Wendt and Chesmore
battled for the win with Wendt coming out the winner.
Saturday May 20 - Jefferson Speedway
Out of 31 Late Models we timed in fifth with a
14.869. Started front row outside of the dash and won that. The heat race we
started 4th row outside and finished 3rd. Now for the interesting part of the
night. We started 5th row outside of the Feature and crossed the line 6th but by
the end of the night we had a 4th place Feature finish. Congratulations to
rookie "Squirt" Stevens who won his first Late Model Feature.
Saturday May 27 - Jefferson Speedway
Rained out.
Friday June 2 - Elkhart Lake (Practice)
We took the Mid-American car to Elkhart Lake to practice for the show on
July 8th and 9th. We only had 3 laps of practice before the linkage broke but
learned alot in those few laps. Came home from Elkhart Lake to unload the
Mid-American car and then to have to load the Late Model and head straight to
Madison for the Madison Black Wolf Season Opener at Warner Park. They lost their
home opener but had a fantastic Fireworks show.
Saturday June 3 - Jefferson Speedway
Jefferson had 28 Late Models and we timed in 5th
with a 14.879. Started front row outside of the fast dash and won that. The heat
race we started fourth row inside and finished 5th. The Feature we started fifth
row inside and finished 10th. Jim Jarlsberg won the 50 Lap Feature.
Wednesday June 7 - Cedar Rapids, IA
We took the Mid-American car to Hawkeye Downs Speedway. There were 27
cars. We had a 20.605 which put us 18th in time. There were no heat races and
all 27 cars started the Feature. We started 10th row inside and at around lap 20
we were up to 10th. The car was on rails until after a restart. Every time Scott
went into the corner it wanted to go straight to the wall. The right front tire
was going flat and we developed a massive push. With 2 laps to go the tire went
flat and we didn't finish the race. We went from being on rails to being on the
rim. Hawkeye Downs is a really nice facility and can't wait to go back. Just
wish it was closer to home instead of 4 hours away.
Saturday June 10 - Jefferson Speedway
NOT a good night! Had brake problems during Time
Trials and the Heat Race. Timed in 8th out of 28 cars with a 15.138. The heat
race we started 3rd row outside and finished 4th. To end a bad night we started
4th row inside of the Feature and on lap 4, cars started spinning coming out of
turn 3 and we ended up in the wall. We thought we had everyone cleared until a
car collected us sending us hard into the wall which put us out the rest of the
night. Dan Chesmore won the Feature making that the 6th different winner in 6
races.
Saturday June 17 - Jefferson Speedway
This week was not much better than last week. There
were 29 Late Models and we timed in with a 15.317 which put us 22nd in time.
This of course was the worst time that we have had in several years. We ended up
having to run the slow heat which we won. Then of course comes the dreaded Last
Chance. We started 4th row outside and finished 2nd which put us into the
Feature. The Feature we started 8th row outside and ended up getting collected
up in another wreck. This week it was only body parts and we made it back out
without losing any laps and finished in 8th place. Dan Chesmore won the Feature
making him the first repeat winner of the year.
Tuesday June 20 - Rockford Speedway
We took the Mid-American car to Rockford. There were a total of 17 cars.
We were 8th in time with a 14.490. We started front row outside of the fast Heat
and won that. The Feature we started 3rd row inside and with about 4 laps down
we slowed up to avoid a car up high in turn 3 which put the car behind us hard
into our rear bumper which he ended up tearing off and then ended up under
another car. Restarted in about 6th position and about half way through the race
we got loose in the middle of 3 and 4 and instead of Corso backing off to let us
straighten out he tagged us and sent us around. We then had to restart at the
tail end of the field. At the end of the 50 lap Feature we were in 7th place.
Saturday June 24 - Jefferson Speedway
Mother nature won this week with another rain out.
Saturday July 1 - Jefferson Speedway
On Thursday night June 29th we went out to Jefferson to practice and on
the first lap going into turn three the throttle stuck. Scott hit the wall with
the throttle stuck wide open. Scott was ok but the car was not. Charlie
Mierendorf is letting us use his car until ours is fixed. We only had 3 hot laps
with Charlie's car but did ok in time trials. There were a total of 33 cars at
Jefferson Saturday night and we timed in 12th with a 15.139. We started 3rd row
inside of the heat and won that. The Feature we started 4th row inside and
finished 11th. Charlie's car is so much like Scott's that it didn't take long
for Scott to feel right at home in Charlie's car. Congratulations to Scott
Bleeker #98 who won the 50 lap Feature.
Saturday July 8 - Jefferson Speedway
We timed in 13th out of 31 cars with a 15.171. The heat race we started
2nd row outside and won that for the second week in a row. Now for the Feature.
Depending upon who you are (driver, crew, fan or official) and where you were
sitting/standing the last lap of the Feature proved to be interesting and a
difference of opinion. We started 4th row outside and crossed the line 5th but
because of "rough driving" we were penalized a position and finished
6th. The last lap going into turn 3 Roger Behlke appeared to slow way down and
Scott dove inside of him and coming out of turn 4 Scott's car pushed up into
Roger. Scott did get into Roger but it was NOT intentional and definitely was
NOT "rough driving". Scott had a vibration and a push all night long
and finished the race with a flat right rear and a blistered right front. Dan
Chesmore won the Feature.
Saturday July 15 - Jefferson Speedway
Jefferson had 32 Late Models and we timed in 6th with a 15.130. We made
the dash which is unheard of with a 15.1 as a time. Usually it takes a 14.9 or
better to make the dash. We started front row inside and finished 6th. The heat
race we started 3rd row outside and finished 8th. The Feature we started 5th row
inside and finished 7th. Dan Chesmore and Gene Olson battled for the Feature win
with Chesmore coming out the winner.
Saturday July 22 - Jefferson Speedway
Full house of Late Models with 34 cars total. We finally cracked the 14's
with Charlie's car with a 14.964 which put us 7th quick in time. The heat race
we started 3rd row inside and won that. We have won the heat 3 out of 4 weeks
with Charlie's car. The Feature we were suppose to start 4th row inside but the
car failed to fire after driver intro's and we had to be pushed into the pits.
The crew got the car started and we got back out there just as the field was
coming around to take the green. We were about a 1/4 of a lap behind coming out
for the green and had to play catch up. We caught up and passed several cars
when there was an accident in turn 1 and 2. Cars were everywhere and we went low
to avoid hitting anyone and just caught a car with our right front and had to
come in and change a tire and do some quick body work. The crew did an excellent
job as usual to get us back out before we went green. We had a vibration the
rest of the night because the right rear rim was bent. We ended up finishing the Feature in 11th place. Andy
Wendt was the Blackhawk Feature winner.
Saturday July 29 - Jefferson Speedway
There were 31 cars total and we timed in 10th with a 15.128. The heat
race we started 3rd row outside and finished 2nd. The Feature we started 3rd row
outside. On lap 10 a car spun out in the middle of 3 and 4 taking out half of
the field and we had to spin to avoid him and the rest of the field bunched up
behind us. We had to go in and change a right rear tire again and fix a bunch of
sheet metal. The crew did a nice job at getting us back out before the race
started back up. We were at the tail end of the field on the restart and worked
our way up to 12th. Nick Wendt won the 50 lap Feature.
Saturday August 5 - Jefferson Speedway
Mother nature won again!
Saturday August 12 - Jefferson Speedway
We finally made it back out with our car. We would like to again thank
Charlie Mierendorf for letting us use his car until ours was done. Jefferson had
37 Late Models and we timed in 12th with a 15.099. We were in line for the heat
race and it started to rain. The rest of the show will be run next week.
Saturday August 19 - Jefferson Speedway
Wow what a long night! 35 cars timed in. We were 7th in time with a
14.974. Our heat race from last week was first to run and we were late getting
out as we had a vibration in Time Trials and we had to change the drive shaft.
We finished last in the first heat. The first 50 lap Feature sponsored by
Watertown Bowl we started 3rd row outside and finished 11th after Roger Behlke
spun us out going into turn 2 and we had to go to the tail end of the field. Dan
Chesmore won the Watertown Bowl Feature. The second heat we started 3rd row
inside and coming out of turn 4 Roger Behlke got into the wall all on his own
and ended up turning into us and hitting us in the right front and we had to be
towed off the track. We had to replace alot of the right front suspension parts
and with parts still bent we were going to start the second Feature last and
take only one lap and pull off. The second 50 lap Feature was sponsored by
Generac Portable Products (one of our sponsors) and that is why we worked so
hard to get the car back onto the track for driver intro's and to take at least
one lap. We started last and after running a lap the car wasn't to bad and Scott
stayed out and even passed a few cars. The yellow came out for Purdy and
Leindecker who tangled in turn 3 and 4. They both pulled off and we took the
green and coming out of turn 2 the car killed and we pulled it into the infield
and ended up finishing 16th. Nick Wendt won the Generac Portable Products 50 lap
Feature.
Saturday August 25 - Jefferson Speedway
We timed in with a 15.075 which put us 7th place in qualifying out of 32
cars. The heat race we started 3rd row inside and finished 4th. The WFAW/Vos
Sentry Foods Winner's Circle Challenge we drew number 5 which put us 3rd row
inside and we finished 5th. Nick Wendt won the Winner's Circle Challenge. The 50
Lap Feature we started 3rd row outside and finished 8th. We came home for the
first time in a couple of months with the car in one piece!!! Chad
"Squirt" Stevens won the 50 Lap Feature.
Saturday Sept. 2 - Jefferson Speedway
Jefferson had 26 cars total. We timed in 8th place with a 15.152. The
heat race we started 3rd row outside and won that. The Feature we started 4th
row outside and finished 6th. Dan Chesmore won the 50 Lap Feature.
Friday Sept. 8 - Madison International
Speedway
We took Mike Holewinski's truck to MIS. We didn't get there in time to
practice and missed time trials because we were still working on a few things.
The heat race we started in the back of the pack and finished 6th. The truck was
cutting out so we changed carburetors before the Feature. The Feature we started
in the back again. We ended up pulling off half way through because we were
overheating. Didn't do real well for the first time having the truck out but
worked the bugs out and learned a few things for Lacrosse.
Saturday Sept. 9 - Jefferson Speedway
SEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS - Total of 28 cars. We had a 14.970 which put us 2nd
quick in time. The dash we started 3rd row inside and finished 3rd. The heat
race we started in the back row by over self and finished 6th. We were trapped
behind 2 cars battling side by side most of the race. The Feature we started 6th
row inside and got taken straight back. Had to work our way back up and ended up
finishing 6th. Dan Chesmore won the 75 Lap Season Championship Feature. We ended
up 4th in points over all for the year.
Friday and Saturday Sept. 15 & 16 -
Jefferson 2 day show
*Friday Sept. 15 -
Jefferson had 50 cars total for the Wisconsin State Championships. We timed in
6th place with a 14.943. The preview Feature we started 5th row inside and
finished 5th.
*Saturday Sept. 16 - The first Feature we started
3rd row outside and was running in 4th place until the white flag came out and
Ken Olson decided to take us both out because he would of rather finished last
then in 5th place. The second Feature we started front row outside and took the
lead and held on for a while. Then Ken Olson who had a fast car but could not
control it decided to take us out AGAIN. We ended up finishing 12th in both of
the Features. Congratulations to Bill Leindecker who was the overall winner.
Saturday Sept. 23 - Rockford Speedway
We took the Mid-American car to Rockford for the National Short Track
Championships. There were 23 cars total that timed in. We timed in 13th with a
14.380. We started 3rd row inside for the 50 lap Feature. About 9-10 laps into
the Feature we had to pull off because the whole under side of the car was
glowing and it appeared that there may be a fire on top the fuel cell. The
header was broke which did start the fuel cell cap on fire. We ended up
finishing last.
Saturday and Sunday Sept. 30 and Oct. 1
- Lake Geneva
The October Classic had a total of 30 Mid-American cars. We were 9th in
time and made the Feature. The Feature we started 2nd row outside and finished
7th. Weather was great and so was the racing. Couldn't of asked for a nicer
weekend!
Friday and Saturday Oct. 6 and 7 -
Lacrosse Fairgrounds Speedway
We took 3 vehicles to Lacrosse and only ended up running 2 of them. We
took the Late Model, Midwest Truck and the Mid-American car. The Mid-American
car is the one we did not get a chance to compete with because we blew the rear
end in practice. Congratulations to Bill Prietzel who won the Mid-American
championship.
The truck and Late Model were both run on Friday night. There were 14 trucks
total and we did not time them in because we ran short on time. The heat race we
started last and finished 5th. The Feature we started 2nd row outside and
finished 10th.
There were 27 Late Models and we timed in with a 20.643 which put us 2nd in
time. We did not discover until after we timed in that the right front tire had
a hole in it and was leaking air. Our track record is a 20.155 which we set in
1998.
We started back row outside of the heat race and finished 5th. The Feature we
started 6th row inside and finished 3rd. The top 3 drivers were super close at
the finish and if we had a few more laps we might of had a chance. Oh well,
always next year! Nate Haseleu won the Limited Late Model Feature.
Sunday November 5 - Mizzou Speedway
(Moberly, MO)

There were only 15 cars total to compete in the Late Model division. They
do not do time trials but determine the feature field through qualifying races.
We drew number 7 which started us on the outside front row of the first
qualifier and we won that. The feature was lined up by the way you finished in
the qualifier so we started front row inside of the Feature. The winner of the
second qualifier was on the outside front row and Johnny Spaw started the second
row outside. We got the lead right away and held on to it all the way to the
checkered flag. Johnny Spaw was shuffled back in traffic but he worked his way
back up to second spot and with 5 laps left he caught us and was pounding on our
door. The last 2 laps were very exciting and lucky for us Johnny was not
handling very good on the bottom groove and we were able to hold him off. Mizzou
speedway is an awesome facility with a newly paved track and we can't wait to go
back next year and see if we can win our second fall classic. Thanks to Aurora
Computers who sponsored the trip for us and to our crew who gave us an excellent
car!!!
