Sunday April 7th - Irwindale Speedway, Irwindale CA
Scott made his first ASA start!! Scott owes a great deal of thanks to
Wade and Greg Stewart of the Screaming Eagle Motorsports team from Four Oaks, NC
for giving him this opportunity. They made the deal on Saturday afternoon. The
only hot laps Scott got were the 6 parade laps before the green flag dropped.
Scott was only able to make 14 laps before he had to pull off for mechanical
problems. He started 29th out of 32 cars and finished 28th. He drove the #34
Screaming Eagle Motorsports Pontiac.
Friday April 26 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
We are racing Ryan Ley's number 77 Limited Late Model at Madison on
Friday nights. The first night out we are racing his old car because the new one
is not done yet. The new race car will be done next week. The first night out
was not a great start but did give Scott an opportunity to get use to the track
again. There were 18 cars and we timed in 12th. The car had a vibration during
practice and time trials. We changed the front brake pads and that took the
vibration away. The heat race we started 2nd row outside and finished 4th. The
feature we started 2nd row inside and about half way through we had to pull off
because the drive flange broke on the right rear.
Friday May 3 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
New car was ready and looked awesome. Larry Ley did a nice job on the
car. We had to work out a few bugs but overall was a good night. During practice
it kept popping out of gear so time trials were our only hot laps with the new
car. Timed in with a 19.711 putting us 12th in time. The heat race we started
outside front row and finished 2nd. The Feature we started front row inside and
finished 6th.
Friday May 10 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
There were only 12 cars and we timed in with a 19.205 which put us 7th in
time. Because of the twin 75 lap Features for the Super Late Models we did not
have a heat race. There was only a 20 lap Feature for Limited Late Models. We
started 2nd row inside and were running in second place when something in the
car tightened up. We ended up finishing in 8th place. We found that there was a
problem with the rear end.
Friday May 17 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
There were a total of 12 cars. We timed in 9th with a 19.405. Scott said
he messed up his line during time trails. The heat race we started front row
outside and finished 2nd. The Feature we started front row inside and fell back
to third because the car was not handling. The car started to come around for a
couple of laps and Scott was attempting to pass the second place car when a
yellow flag came out. He said the car felt funny so he brought it in to the pits
and we had a flat tire. Came back out and finished 8th in the Feature.
Friday May 24 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
We timed in with a 19.323 which put us 7th in qualifying. There were a
total of 12 cars that timed in but 13 that started the Feature. In the heat race
we started second row outside and finished second for the third week in a row.
The Feature we started second row inside and finished in 8th place. Still
working out some bugs in the new car but hope to have them resolved by next
week.
Sunday May 26 - Dells Motor Speedway, Wisconsin
Dells WI
There were a total of 35 cars that timed in for the Limited Late Model
show at the Dells. We qualified 9th with a time of 14.492. The top 10 in time
made the Feature so we did not have to run the qualifiers or the last chance. We
started inside front row and jumped out to an early lead. We led until Todd Otis
passed us and ran second until Todd pulled off with problems. We then led the
race and were pulling away from the rest of the field when the car just killed.
Scott had to pull off and we could not get the car fired back up. As Scott Ley
would say "we need to get rid of the black cloud that is hanging over us". We
ended up finishing the Feature in 12th place.
Friday May 31 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
There were 13 cars and we timed in with a 19.437 which put us 8th in
time. The heat race we started second row inside and finished second. The
Feature we started front row inside. The car was still not running 100% and we
were dropping back in the field. About half way through the Feature the car
killed. Scott pulled into the infield and that's where we finished the race.
Friday June 7 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
We qualified 7th out of 17 cars with a 19.506. There were no heat races
because of the sprint cars. The Feature we started third row outside and about
half way through we had a flat tire so we ended up finishing 12th.
Friday June 14 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
Rained Out.
Friday June 21 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
Rained Out.
Friday June 28 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
There was a great turn out for cars and spectators for the fireworks
show. There were 19 Limited Late Models that qualified. We had a 19.165 which
put us 8th in time. The heat race we started front row outside and won our heat.
The Feature we started 4th row inside and finished 4th. We had fireworks a
little earlier than expected when #17 went up in flames after hitting the turn
1and 2 wall. Great job by Dave Gruenberg and John Wood for responding quickly
and getting the driver out of the car. The driver was OK.
Wednesday July 3 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
There were 14 Limited Late Models for the Miller Classic. We were 4th in
time with a 19.224. There were no heat races for the Limited Late Models. The
Feature we started third row outside and thought that during a yellow flag we
were going to have to pull off because the car was starting to over heat and was
not handling at all. The car did end up cooling down enough during the yellow
and once the green flag fell the handling of the car came around and the car
stayed cool enough to finish the race. We finished the Feature in 5th place.
Sunday July 7 -
Dells Motor Speedway, Wisconsin Dells WI
There were a total of 35 cars that timed in for the Limited Late Model
show at the Dells. They took the top 12 in time and we had a 14.572 which put us
15th in time. We had to run the qualifier. We started third row inside for the
qualifier and only the top 3 move on. Unfortunately we ended up trapped and
taken back and by the time we caught the top 3 there were only 2 laps left and
we finished 4th. We had to run the last chance and only the top 2 move on. We
started front row inside and finished first. The Feature we started last and
only ran until lap 35 when we had to pull off because we were over heating. We
ended up finishing 17th.
Friday July 12 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
We had our best time of the year with a 19.064. That put us 4th in time
out of 18 cars. We started third row inside for the heat race and spun to avoid
a wreck and our exhaust came loose so we ended up finishing 6th. The Feature we
started 5th row outside and were running second when a caution came out. There
were 6 laps left and we were starting to over heat. The over heating robbed us
of horse power so we ended up finishing second. The car ran great and we finally
had a good night!!
Friday July 19 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
There
were a total of 17 cars and we timed in with a 19.278 which put us 10th in time.
We started 3rd row outside and were taken straight back by the cars ahead of us
and then boxed in and could not go anywhere. We ended up finishing last in the
heat. The Feature we started front row outside. We ran in second until we spun on lap 13 because the leader was leaking
something. Our windshield was full of fluid when we came in after the Feature.
After the restart the brakes started getting spongy and the car was starting to
over heat. We ended up finishing in 11th place.
Saturday July 27 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
There was a good show of cars for the Club LaMark 50 lap Feature on
Saturday night. We did not time in because as we were going out to qualify we
broke an axle in the rear end. There were 23 cars starting in the Feature. We
had to start last because we did not qualify. We were running in the middle of
the pack when a yellow came out and we had to pull up to the wall to have tape
removed from the front of the car. That put us back to the tail end again and we
worked our way up to an 8th place finish.
Friday August 2 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
We timed in with a 19.234 which put us 7th in time. There were a total of
15 cars. The heat race we started front row inside and finished 2nd. The Feature
we started second row inside and finished 9th.
Sunday August 4 -
Dells Motor Speedway, Wisconsin Dells WI
There were a total of 30 Limited Late Models and the top 12 in time make
the Feature. We timed in with a 14.475 which put us 15th in time and missing the
show by 3 cars. We started 3rd row inside for the qualifier and on the 2nd lap
there was a big pile up on the front stretch and we had no where to go. The
crash knocked the tow out and wrecked most of the sheet metal on the front end.
Ended up finishing 3rd (took the top 2). Had to run the Last Chance race and won
that. The Feature we started last and the car had a push for most of the race
but ended up with a 10th place finish.
Friday August 9 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
We timed in with a 19.084 which put us 7th in time out of 18 cars. We
started 2nd row inside in the heat and finished 4th. The Feature we started 4th
row inside and crossed the line 5th but because of a car being disqualified we
ended up 4th.
Saturday August 10 - Jefferson Speedway, Jefferson
WI
First night out at Jefferson with the 62 Limited Late Model in the 2002
season. There were a total of 31 cars. We were 10th in time with a 15.090. The
heat race we started 2nd row outside and ended up going back because the car was
very loose. The Feature we started 4th row outside and about half way through
something broke in the front end and the car went straight up into the wall
which ended our night.
Friday August 16 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
We
had a 19.153 in time which put us 6th in time out of 13 cars.
The heat race we started front row inside and won that. The Feature we
started 2nd row outside and after being taken back and having to work our way
back to the front we finished 4th.

Friday August 23 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
There were a total of 14 Limited Late Models. We were 6th in time with a
19.164. The heat race we started front row outside. The car had a bad push so we
ended up finishing 6th in the heat. The Feature we started 2nd row inside and finished
4th.
Friday August 30 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
We were 3rd in time out of 16 cars. We timed in with a 19.018. The heat
race we started 3rd row outside and finished
5th. The Feature we started 4th row outside. Scott got on the throttle a
little sooner than the car ahead
of him and ended up taking the guy out. We got sent to the back of the
pack and had to work our way back up through the field and ended up with a 6th
place finish. After the Feature Scott went and apologized to the driver for
taking him out. It was not intentional and when Scott makes a mistake he will
admit it and apologize.
Saturday August 31 - Jefferson Speedway, Jefferson
WI
There were a total of 28 Late Models and only the top 14 make the Feature
by time. We had a 15.133 which put us 12th in time and in the show. The heat
race we started 2nd row outside and the car was very loose. We finished 4th in
the heat. The Feature we started front row inside and led for the first 22 laps.
Jarlsberg and Scott ran side by side for 8-10 laps and Jarlsberg had a little
bit better handling car than Scott and eventually got underneath him. Wendt also
got underneath Scott and we were then in 3rd place with only 10 laps to go.
Nottestad then decided he wanted that spot more than we did and he did his usual
slide move. Coming out of the corner he slid up into us and slammed the side of
our car taking us out which brought out the yellow and put us both to
the back of the pack. Us for spinning and him for taking us out. We ended up
finishing the Feature in 14th place.
Monday Sept. 2 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
Rained Out.
Friday Sept. 6 - Madison International Speedway,
Oregon WI
There were a total of 15 Limited Late Models for the Season Championships
at MIS. We were 3rd in time with a 18.990. The heat race we started 3rd row
inside and finished 4th. Nobody went any where in the heat race because the
front 2 cars ran side by side the entire 8 laps. The Feature we started 5th row
inside and going across the line for the checkered we just missed 5th place by a
nose and ended up finishing 6th. We finished 7th overall in points for the 2002
season at MIS.
Friday and Saturday Sept. 13 & 14 - Jefferson Speedway, Jefferson
WI
Friday night -
Pepsi Wisconsin State Championships at
Jefferson Speedway always pack in the cars. There were a total of 50 Limited
Late Models that timed in on Friday night. The top
14 in time automatically make the twin 65 lap Features. We had a 15.092 which
put us 20th in time. We had to run the 25 lap qualifier since we did not make it
in time and the top 2 advance. We started 7th row inside and finished 4th which
means we now have to run the Last Chance race. The last race of the night for us
was the Race of Champions. We were in that for being the top car in points at
Madison International Speedway. We started 3rd row outside and finished second.
Saturday night -
The top 3 advance out of the 25 lap Last Chance race. We started front
row outside and finished first and made the show. There was a 26 car starting
field for the first 65 lap Feature. We started 10th row outside and after quite
a few close calls finished 10th. The second 65 lap Feature we started 2nd row
outside and were running 5th with one lap to go until we came up on a lap car
which got in the way and we ended up finishing 6th. We were 7th overall for the
weekend.
Sunday Sept. 29 -
Dells Motor Speedway, Wisconsin Dells WI
There were 29 cars total to time in and only the top 12 in time make the
Feature. We timed in 14th with a 14.477 and had to run the qualifier. We started
front row outside and finished second to advance to the Feature. The Feature we
started 8th row inside and about lap 50 a car hit us and sent us into the
infield which tore up the nose of the car. We were able to continue on without
loosing a lap but then we were black flagged for loose body parts. We pulled off
with 10 laps to go and never made it back out. We finished 15th.
Friday Oct. 4 - LaCrosse Fairgrounds
Speedway, LaCrosse WI
There were no time trials due to the rain. There were 2 qualifiers with
the top 8 in each making the Feature. We started 4th row outside and finished
7th in our qualifier. The Feature there were a total of 31 cars. We started 5th
row inside and the car just had no HP and was not handling the greatest so we
ended up finishing in 12th place.
